Book Buying Dilemna: Kindle? Hard Cover? $9.99 or $17.97? The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
I have, and LOVE, my kindle. I take it on planes, trains and automobiles. I read books on my iphone on the bus and in line at Starbucks. And still, I have a stack of hard and paperbacks to read: Kindle has added to my reading list, not replaced it. And it’s made my shopping decisions SOOOO much harder.
A few kindle dilemnas are rearing: I can’t share kindle books I’ve purchased, I can’t read my kindle while the “no electronics” sign is lit on airplanes, and I have to remember to bring my charger.
So this week we had another family book problem: Dan Brown published The Lost Symbol, and I have a kindle, while my husband doesn’t…he prefers hardcovers (I’m sure the publishing industry loves him).

Kindle or Hard Cover????
Should I spend $9.99 to download the book to my kindle, or should I use my Borders 40% member discount and pay $17.97, with tax nearly twice what I’d pay at Amazon.
What did we decide? I paid the extra price so he can read the book first, then I’ll read it when he’s finished…and we’ll look for someone to pass the book on to, as our bookshelves are bulging.
What would Robert Langdon do with this new millenium number mystery?

I’d like to be in ‘line’ for the next reading.
QM: You’re next in line after Moi
I had to make that hard decision myself. I do not want to do away with hardcovers or paperbacks completely- not being able to pass books along is hard to give up. But the kindle…apparently there is a kindle DX out there coming in at 9.7″ and a whooping $489.00. That may fit easier into the palms of The Big Guy.
